The Center For Diabetes Management has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association since 2006 as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self Management Education. The center incorporates a highly qualified multidisciplinary team including a board certified diabetologist and endocrinologist, certified diabetic educators, registered dieticians, and other medical staff.

Our Mission is to deliver state of the art comprehensive care and treatment for diabetes.

Meet Our Team

Samir Ouais MD

Dr. Ouais serves as the medical director of the Center For Diabetes Management.
He is Board Certified in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism.
Dr. Ouais has over 30 years of clinical and academic experience. He is a former visiting professor of Endocrinology at M.D Anderson. Dr. Ouais provides comprehensive patient management of diabetes for adults and adolescents, using the latest in diabetes medications and intensive insulin treatment including insulin pump. His expertise also includes disorders of thyroid, pituitary gland, growth retardation, delayed puberty and endocrine causes of infertility. Dr. Ouais also serves patients in the surrounding hospital( Kingwood Medical Center, Herman Memorial Northeast Hospital, Doctors Diagnostic Hospital and others).

Dr. Ouais is well-recognized by his patients for having an amiable disposition and a warm bed-side manner and he is devoted to the best care and treatment

Amy Anderson, MS, RD, LDN

Amy has a Master's of Science Degree in Human Nutrition and Foods and is a federally registered and Texas licensed dietitian and nutritionist. She has over 10 years of experience in the field of diabetes and nutrition counseling and has completed a specialized training in Adult Weight Management. “Every person can benefit from the growing science of nutrition,” she states. As a member of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, Amy emphasizes creating functional environments that promote optimal health & positive results. She counsels individuals and leads group discussions to empower people to make better food choices. She is passionate about spreading knowledge on how and when to eat in order to prevent & to fight diseases. In addition to carbohydrate counting, she coaches on mindful eating, exposing nutrition misinformation, and stress relief therapies to prevent over-eating and to control blood sugar levels. Amy resides in Houston, Texas & she enjoys networking, cooking, & sneaking variety into her family's diet. She has a passion to motivate others to combat the obesity & diabetes epidemics by uniting people to strive for the best quality of life. Her motto is, “Eat for you, your nation & the next generations.”

Katrina Sobecky, RD, LD

Katrina has a B.S. Degree in Dietetics from Kansas State University and is a federally registered and Texas licensed dietitian and nutritionist. She has over 6 years of experience in the field of nutrition and has completed a specialized training in Adult Weight Management. “Small habit and lifestyle changes over time add up to big health benefits,” she states. Katrina also works as a dietitian health coach in which she focuses on meeting people where they are to set realistic, personalized goals rather than simply giving a ‘one-size fits all’ meal plan. She understands that not everyone fits into the same ‘box’ and each person needs specific nutrition and exercise goals based on their current lifestyle and likes/dislikes. At the Center for Diabetes Management Katrina teaches carbohydrate counting and meal planning, does insulin pump training and counsels on weight management and bariatric surgery, both pre-op and post-op. In her free time Katrina likes to sew, take her dogs on walks, garden and spend time with her family. She enjoys being a dietitian because she believes that by helping people change how they eat she can help them feel better about themselves and have more fulfilling lives.
