Weight Management

Why is weight management important?

In addition to helping you feel and look better, reaching a healthier body weight is good for your overall health and well being. If you are overweight or obese, you have a greater risk of developing and/or worsening many diseases including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, elevated blood pressure, sleep apnea, osteoarthritis, and stroke.

Our weight management program offers a unique multidisciplinary approach to manage all your health concerns.

Achieving and maintaining weight loss is a lifestyle commitment. Our qualified team will support you in adopting new healthy behaviors to reach lasting success. We provide both individual and interactive group weight management counseling.

Our registered dietitians will complete a thorough consultation and assessment on your first visit. In the following consecutive sessions, the dietitians will cover these topics:
  • Nutrition: Our food choices have a major impact on how we look and feel - both physically and mentally. In this session you will learn how to manage your own meal plan and eat healthy.
  • Exercise: Research consistently shows that regular exercise, combined with healthy eating, is the most efficient and healthful way to control your weight. Our team will help you determine a basic exercise routine that fits your needs.
  • Lifestyle and Behavioral Changes: Change can be hard so our team will discuss how you can begin with realistic small changes in your thoughts and habits that will begin to make big differences. Mindful eating, stress-eating triggers, and how to make your home a health-promoting environment are just a few topics covered.
  • Food shopping, restaurant dining and healthy cooking: We will advise you on how to enjoy your food and still eat healthy using tested tips and delicious recipes.

Take charge of your health by visiting with our dietitians and attending our state-of-the-art weight management classes.
